Peut être êtes vous passés à côté des quelques articles sur les prédictions du futurologue Ian Person (lien) au sujet des chambres d’Hôtel de 2030… Je voudrais revenir sur ce sujet qui, dans le monde de l’hôtellerie, fait des rêveurs comme des sceptiques.

L’étude commandée par le site de rréservation hôtelière en ligne Travelodge.co.uk ne laisse pas indifférent. En partant du principe que j’ai bien traduit l’article (en anglais bien sûr !) j’ai découvert que les murs des chambres du Mathurin seront recouverts de panneau vidéo dans lesquelles mes chers clients pourront projeter des images de chez eux recréant ainsi l’ambiance familiale. Ils auront, de plus, accès à pléthore d’activités de sport et de détente avec coaches virtuels, et pourront faire leur shopping sur place. Coté sommeil, les clients ne seront pas déçus : l’oreiller leur fera des massages mieux que dans des salons thaï et vous réveillera le matin à la bonne heure en fonction de votre cycle de sommeil. Quand je vois les investissements que je vais devoir faire dans les 20 prochaines années, je commence à me demander si les récents travaux entrepris au Mathurin suffiront… Si en 2030, vous avez les mêmes installations chez vous, je vous offrirai bien sûr ce luxe d’être chez vous à l’hôtel.

The hotel room of the future
You many have missed the few articles devoted to the predictions of the futurologist Ian Person (link) about what hotel rooms could be like in the year 2030… Just in case, I would like to come back to this subject that delighted some people in the hotel business while leaving others more sceptical.
The study commissioned by the hotel booking website Travelodge.co.uk will leave nobody indifferent. Based on the principle that I understood the article correctly (it was in English of course) I discovered that the walls of the rooms of tomorrow at Le Mathurin will be covered with video panels onto which the guests will be able to project images of their own homes to recreate the family atmosphere. What’s more, they will be able to do all sorts of sports and relaxation activities thanks to virtual coaches and shop from their room. Nor will they have anything to fear as far as getting a good night’s sleep goes: the pillow will give them better massages than you can expect from a Thai massage parlour and they will be woken up in the morning at the right time according to their sleep cycle.
When I see the investments that I am going to have to make in the next 20 years, I am starting to wonder whether the renovation work recently undertaken at Le Mathurin will be enough… If in 2030, you have the same things in your own home, I will of course offer you this luxury of feeling at home in the hotel. Thankfully I still have a bit of time though!
