Vous avez été nombreux à suivre la Semaine Américaine du Mathurin et j’ai moi même eu grand plaisir à vous la faire partager. Pourquoi s’arrêter en si bon chemin ? Rassurez vous, je ne vais pas vous parler d’un lieu éloigné mais bien au contraire d’un restaurant américain à Paris. Et pourtant, c’est bien en Amérique que vous vous trouverez dès le pas de la porte franchie. « Breakfast in America » est une humble chaine de restaurants (deux à Paris) qui vous plonge au cœur des USA. Ici, le cadre, le service, la nourriture… tout est empreint de culture américaine. Un ancien scénariste d’outre Atlantique est à l’origine de ces restaurants et croyez moi, cela vaut le détour. Vous pouvez prendre le traditionnel petit déjeuner à tout moment de la journée, les serveuses (américaines bien sûr) se feront un plaisir de remplir votre tasse du traditionnel « jus de chaussette » dès que celle-ci sera vide. Ambiance très « Happy days », mobilier typique : rien ne manque.
On ne serait pas surpris de voir surgir une star d’Hollywood. Attention cependant, ces restaurants on tellement de succès que je vous recommande d’arriver en avance et surtout de prendre votre mal en patience devant l’entrée du restaurant (on attend rarement plus de 10 minutes même si il y à beaucoup de monde). Pour ma part, j’ai testé le « BIA » de la rue des Ecoles et je vous assure que peu de choses manquent pour se croire au USA.

Back in the USA
I was delighted to be able to offer so many of you the opportunity to experience Mathurin’s American Week. So why stop there? Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be about a far-away destination, but on the contrary, an American restaurant in Paris. And yet as soon as you cross the threshold you’ll certainly feel like you’re in the States. « Breakfast in America » is an unassuming chain of restaurants (two in Paris) which transports you to the heart of the USA. Everything, from the setting and the service to the food, is a reflection of American culture. These restaurants were set up by a former scriptwriter from across the Atlantic and believe me, they are worth a visit. You can order a traditional breakfast at any time of day and the waitresses (American of course) will only be too pleased to fill up your traditional cup of « dishwater » as soon as it is empty. Nothing has been forgotten, including the « Happy Days » atmosphere and typical furniture.
The sight of a Hollywood star emerging from inside would not be surprising. Due to the popularity of these restaurants, however, I would recommend that you arrive early and above all that you grin and bear the wait (which is rarely more than 10 minutes, even during very busy periods). I personally tried the « BIA » in the Rue des Ecoles and I can assure you that it has almost everything to make you believe that you’re in the USA.
