Le Lisboa Plaza

Charlotte et moi sommes allé à Lisbonne le week end dernier. L’occasion pour vous faire partager un nouveau coup de cœur sur le premier hôtel où nous sommes descendus, un hôtel de charme dans le centre historique à quelques pas de l’Avenida da Liberdade : le Lisboa Plaza.

On peut lire sur son site Internet : « Ouvert au début des années 50, il est l’œuvre d’un architecte qui a développé un concept de modernité par le biais, selon ses propres termes, « de solutions pratiques qui procurent un sentiment de bien-être ».Il est la propriété d’une famille qui a continué le rêve de l’architecte et qui au fil des années a su créer une atmosphère intime et de bon goût où l’on se sent bien comme chez soi. » … Mathurin se traduirait-il Lisboa Plaza en portugais ?! Je retrouve sur ce site un concept qui m’est cher : le luxe d’être chez soi !

Mais le site Internet diffère un peu de la réalité … Si le personnel de l’hôtel est très sympathique et compétent, les chambres par contre sont un peu défraichies … une petite mise à jour décorative serait bienvenue. Attention ne comprenez pas que la déco est nulle, elle est juste fatiguée … on se sent bien comme chez soi, … mais plutôt dans une maison de campagne qui sert assez peu et où l’on vient de retirer les housses des meubles et des sièges.

Nous sommes restés 2 nuits au Lisboa Plaza, je vous recommande le buffet du petit déjeuner, il est impressionnant et extrêmement complet, entre les 10 variétés de pain ou de céréales, vous trouverez saumon, champagne, jus de fruits frais, etc.

Charlotte and I were in Lisbon last weekend and we can share with you a new discovery in the first hotel that we stayed at, a charming hotel in the historic centre, a stone’s throw from the Avenida da Liberdade: the Lisboa Plaza.
As you can read on its website: ‘Opened at the beginning of the 1950’s, this hotel is one in which the architect developed a concept of modernity through, as he himself said, « practical solutions, which promote a sense of well-being”. The family who own the hotel continued the architect’s dream and over the years have created an atmosphere of informal good taste, which makes us feel well. »… Could it be that Lisboa Plaza is the Portuguese translation of Le Mathurin?! This website describes a concept that is very dear to me: the luxury of feeling at home!
But the website differs slightly from the reality… While the hotel staff is very nice and competent, the rooms are a little dowdy… in other words a decorative update would be welcome. Don’t get me wrong it is not bad, just a bit tired-looking… you do feel at home… but more like in a country house which is not used very often and in which you have just pulled the dustsheets off the furniture.
We stayed 2 nights at the Lisboa Plaza, and I can recommend the breakfast buffet, it is really impressive and extremely varied, as well as the 10 types of bread and cereals, you can start the day off with salmon, champagne, fresh fruit juice, etc.
