Et oui, vous l’avez peut être oublié mais l’un des groupes les plus atypiques de la pop française a été propulsé sur le devant de la scène par le Mathurin ! Petit rappel, en 2012, nous avions lancé la première édition du Mathurin Live Contest. Cinq artistes avaient été invités à se confronter en live sur la scène de l’hôtel. Un jury de neuf professionnels les départageait à la fin et c’est Elephant qui l’avait emporté. Touchée, la chanteuse du groupe Lisa Wisznia avait d’ailleurs déclaré après la remise du prix que « c’était la première fois qu’ils gagnaient un truc ».
Les événements se sont ensuite vite enchaînés pour le couple, après la signature d’un partenariat avec le label Columbia / Sony Music, ils sortent leur premier album le 13 mai 2013 « Collective mon amour » et en assurent la promotion. Ils sont déclarés révélation «Découverte francophone » début 2013 par le Groupement des radios francophones publiques, avec leur titre Collective mon amour. Collaborant avec des artistes aussi divers et prestigieux que Patrick Bruel, Benjamin Biolay ou Vanessa Paradis, le groupe a commencé à se faire un nom sur la scène musicale française. Vus récemment en première partie de Nevsky, ils sont revenus en 2014 avec un nouveau clip tiré de leur premier album. La vidéo et ses paroles invitent au voyage. Une belle proposition pour sortir de la froideur de l’hiver et aller sous des cieux plus cléments.
Elephant (band): where are they now?
You might have forgotten them, but one of French pop’s most eclectic groups burst onto the scene thanks to Le Mathurin! Here’s a little reminder: in 2012, we held the Mathurin Live Contest for the first time. Five artists were invited to go head to head in live performances onstage in the hotel. A panel of nine professionals judged the groups, and in the end it was Elephant who won first place. Touched, the band’s singer, Lisa Wisznia, declared after the prize was awarded that “it was the first time they’d ever won anything.”
After that, events unfolded quickly for the pair: after signing a deal with the Columbia / Sony Music record label, they released their first album, “Collective Mon Amour” on 13 May 2013, following it up with a promotional campaign. They were named “French-language group to watch” at the start of 2013 by the Groupement des Radios Francophones Publiques (French-Speaking Public Radio Group) for “Collective Mon Amour”. Working alongside various prestigious artists including Patrick Bruel, Benjamin Biolay and Vanessa Paradis, the group has started to build a real name for itself within the French music scene.
After opening for Nevsky recently, they’re back in 2014 with a new music video taken from their first album. With a clip and lyrics oozing with that road-trip feeling, it fits perfectly with the start of the summer!
