Le Cipriani Downtown, voici une institution new-yorkaise, singulière de par son histoire, puis par sa localisation dans New York, descendant du très célèbre Harry’s bar à Venise en Italie et, enfin, petit frère du Harry Cipriani situé Uptown. La devise de la maison vieille d’un siècle, me rappelle la devise du Mathurin, servir les autres comme l’on souhaiterait être servi. Alors la devise est bien respecté, le bruit est présent, les cocktails (dont le fameux Bellini inventé par Giuseppe Cipriani) sont très américains, la cuisine ne déplait pas car elle est à l’image de cette institution de sortie de bureau new-yorkaise. Bref un restaurant vivant avec un service vivace et certains de ses serveurs francais que vous reconnaitrez car leur fidélité à l’endroit est invariable… Merci Marco pour m’avoir fait découvrir cet endroit il y a bien longtemps maintenant…

Cipriani Downtown, now here is a New York institution, unique for its history and its location in New York, descendant of the very famous Harry’s bar in Venice, Italy, and finally, the younger brother of Harry Cipriani located in Uptown. The house’s century-old motto reminds me of Le Mathurin’s motto: serving others the way you would like to be served. While it lives up the motto, the noise is noticeable; the cocktails (including the famous Bellini invented by Giuseppe Cipriani) are very American. The cuisine does not disappoint, and yet it is fashioned in the image of this institution, from a New York office. In a nutshell; a lively restaurant with enduring service where there are still some of its French waiters you would recognize because of their unwavering loyalty to the place… Thank you, Marco, for showing me this place so long ago now…
