Nous sommes donc Charlotte et moi aux Maldives au One & Only Reethi Rah, un établissement qui collectionne les superlatifs ; L’un des plus beaux hôtels de la république, le One & Only est aussi l’un des établissements les pus récents de la chaîne hôtelière, situé sur la plus grande île des Maldives (44 hectares), Reethi Rah qui signifie Belle Ile, en Dhivehi, la langue de l’archipel. Son nom vient notamment, du sable blanc d’une rare finesse qui recouvre ses plages.

Coté occupations, l’hôtel propose un spa Espa de 1300 m², offrant saunas finlandais, hammam aux cristaux d’améthyste, hydromassage, fontaines de glace, massages thaïlandais, aromathérapie ; une piscine à débordement où l’eau se confond avec celle du lagon ; une salle de fitness ; des tennis, une bibliothèque et de nombreux équipements : tennis de table, base nautique, club pour enfants pour enfants, Internet, … L’une des activités phares de l’hôtel est la plongée avec des cours pour tous les niveaux. La
barrière de corail est à 130 mètres de la plage, offrant une trentaine de sites pour danser avec pour les raies manta, les tortues, les requins ou autres barracudas.

L’établissement compte 130 villas de style locale toutes équipées de superbes matériaux dont les bois sculptés ; Elles offrent toutes une plage ou une terrasse privée avec un accès direct au lagon, certaines avec une véranda ombragée donnant sur la mer, d’autres avec piscine privée, douche extérieure, véranda et grande terrasse en bois, d’autres enfin sur pilotis. Toutes sont équipées de vélos et buggys pour circuler sur l’île.

Pour se restaurer, les trois restaurants (deux sur pilotis et un sur le sable) proposent une alliance de saveurs : orientales, méditerranéennes, japonaises, indiennes, libanaises etc.

So, here we are, Charlotte and I, on holiday in the Maldives at the One & Only Reethi Rah, an establishment that accumulates superlatives… As well as being one of the most beautiful hotels of the Republic, the One & Only is also one of the most recent hotels situated on the biggest island of the Maldives (44 hectares). Reethi Rah means beautiful island in Dhivehi, the local language, and it earns its name, among other things, thanks to the incredibly fine white sand of its beaches.
The hotel facilities are equally worthy of superlatives with an ESPA spa spreading over 1300 square metres, offering saunas, a steam room with amethyst crystals, hydro-massage, stimulating ice fountains, Thai massages, aromatherapy; an overflow swimming pool which seems to merge into the waters of the lagoon; a fitness room; tennis courts, a library and lots of other facilities: table tennis, a nautical base, a kids’ club, Internet, etc. But one of the hotel’s flagship activities is scuba diving with courses for all levels. The coral reef is just 130 metres from the beach, offering around thirty spots for admiring Manta rays, turtles, sharks and barracudas.
The hotel has 130 villas built in local style using superb materials including sculpted wood. They all have a private beach or patio with direct access to the lagoon, some with a shady veranda overlooking the ocean, others with a private swimming pool, outdoor shower, veranda and large area of wooden decking, and even some on stilts. All the villas have bicycles and buggies to get around the island.
There are three restaurants (two on stilts and one on the beach) proposing a mixture of flavours: Oriental, Mediterranean, Japanese, Indian, Lebanese, etc.
