Durant le  week end des journées du patrimoine, nous célébrions aussi les 40 ans de la disparition de Jimi Hendrix. Il y a assez longtemps je vantais les mérites d’un homme de la musique sur ce blog, Galt MacDermot, aujhourd’hui je voudrais vous parlez d’un groupe des années 70, Funkadelic est un groupe de funk américain fondé en 1964. Ses membres faisaient initialement partie de The Parliaments, un groupe de doo-wop (variante du Rythm and Blues, mélangeant les rythmes africains et les hymnes religieux puritains des blancs américains) qui débuta dans la boutique de coiffure de George Clinton. Le morceau que je vous présente vient de l’album Maggot Brain, daté de 1971, l’un des plus beau du groupe. Un exercice de guitare remarquable, c’est beau c’est long et ce fut écrit pour accompagner la mort de Jimi Hendrix, un des pères spirituels du groupe… la légende veux que le morceau ait été enregistré en une seule prise par Eddie Hazel…. voici le titre Maggot Brain.

The ‘Heritage Days’ weekend coincides with the 40th anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix. Quite a while ago in this blog I sang the praises of a man of music, Galt MacDermot, and today I would like to talk about a band that reached the height of its popularity in the 70’s, Funkadelic, which is an American funk band founded in 1964. Its members were initially in The Parliaments, a band playing doo-wop (a variant of Rhythm and Blues, mixing African rhythms and puritan white American religious hymns) which started out in the hairdressing salon of a certain George Clinton. The track that I want to share with you comes from the album Maggot Brain, released in 1971, one of the band’s best. With a remarkable guitar exercise, it is beautiful, long and was written as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, one of the band’s spiritual fathers… legend has it that the track was recorded in one sitting by Eddie Hazel…. here is the track called Maggot Brain.
